Cross Trust Lead SENDCo

Rebecca Hardy

After graduating from Durham University with a Biomedical Science degree, Rebecca began her teaching career working as a teacher of Science at St Peter's Catholic College in South Bank, Middlesbrough.  She was passionate about teaching and learning and improving the life chances of the pupils. Within her first year, she was appointed as KS3 Assistant Director of Progress and then Director of Progress the following year. Rebecca joined the teaching leaders programme with the Ambition Institute and became involved in the teaching and learning team, alongside her Director of Progress role.  Within this role,  Rebecca's main goal was to remove all barriers from the pupils to ensure they made progress and increased their life chances. These roles allowed Rebecca to work closely in the SEND department and this prompted Rebecca to do her NASENCO award at Northumbria University. Soon after starting this course, she became SENDCo at St Peter's working closely with teachers, pupils, parents and carers to ensure the graduated response was implemented.

Rebecca moved to Wellfield school in Wingate as Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo and led a research driven, needs led, team to support the pupils and their families. Shortly after, Rebecca then took the lead in overseeing all aspects of SEND, Behaviour, Alternative Provision and attendance for the school.

In June 2024, Rebecca was appointed to the Central Team at LST as Lead Cross-Trust SENDco, where she supports all of our schools in our goal of transforming the lives of pupils and communities through extraordinary education, regardless of their needs.
