Train to Teach

All our LST Secondary Academies are partner schools at Think North East.

Think North East is a School Direct initial teacher training provider offering the highest quality training for people choosing to enter the teaching profession.

All schools in the Think North East School Direct partnership share one vision: to ensure we provide the highest quality training possible for people choosing to enter the teaching profession. Regardless of in which schools you train, you will be highly supported in developing as a skilled teacher on your way to a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

As our name suggests, we are a partnership with a shared commitment to giving careful thought to all aspects of our initial teacher training programme. We strive to develop teachers who can think critically and creatively about their practice to make rapid progress in their role as a teacher.

Regardless of where within Laidlaw Schools Trust you train, you will develop your teaching skills and expertise, ensuring you are set up for a thriving and rewarding teaching career.

Invested In Your Success

With our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme, you will receive 1-on-1 and community support every step of the way. You will be overseen by highly experienced professionals who will help cultivate your practice.

Moreover, we treat our trainees as integral parts of the community: you will form lasting relationships with other teachers, as well as children and their families, in no time.

My experience with Think North East this past year has been a really amazing one. From the start it has been a rollercoaster of hard work but I loved absolutely every second of it. I feel very strongly that I am going to be a confident and competent teacher going forwards when I start my career in September.

The Best of Both Worlds

Our teacher trainees immerse themselves in school life from the get-go, quickly picking up the tricks of the trade and putting theory into practice.

At the same time, you will have plenty of time to reflect on your learnings and delve into the academics in our state-of-the-art Teaching and Leadership Centre, as you study towards a PGCE qualification from the University of Sunderland, awarded in addition to your Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

In addition to your Qualified Teacher Status, you will receive a PGCE qualification from the University of Sunderland - a Top 50 UK University.

Three Schools. One Vision: Excellence

Where other teacher training providers might see you placed in schools located far and wide, we work with you to ensure you are placed in schools that allow you to carry out your other commitments throughout your teacher training course.

All schools in the Think North East partnership share one vision: to ensure we provide the highest quality training possible for people choosing to enter the teaching profession. Regardless of in which schools you train, you will receive exceptional support in developing as a skilled teacher.
